The multi-award winning rapper, real name Kiernan Jarryd Forbes was pronounced dead at the scene outside a restaurant on Florida Road in the late hours of Friday.

Now, former Kaizer Chiefs duo Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Siphiwe Tshabalala and former Orlando Pirates captain Lucky lekgwathi have paid tribute to the late rapper in their own individual ways.

In a statement on Saturday morning, EThekwini Mayor Councillor Mxolisi Kaunda spoke out against Forbes’s killing for no reason.

“We were sad to hear about AKA’s death because we were looking forward to seeing him at the Durban All White Concert at the Durban ICC on Saturday of next week. “We ask anyone in the community who may have seen what happened to tell the police what they know,” said Mayor Kaunda.

He also said that the rapper’s cruel death on a popular nightlife street would hurt the reputation of Durban’s hottest nightclubs, which the municipality and its partners have worked hard to build over the years.

Also, the mayor told the Forbes family, friends, and fans that he was very sorry for their loss.
