On saturday morning the country awoke to the heartbreaking and shocking news that popular rapper Kiernan Forbes (AKA) was shot dead outside a restaurant in Durban where he was booked to perform at a club. His long time friend Tebello Motsoane was also killed in the shooting. His family, fans and friends are struggling to come to terms with his sudden death, a huge loss for the music industry. On saturday evening the CCTV footage was made public. It showed a man crossing the street opposite the rapper then gunning him down in cold blood.

AKA’s body arrived in Joburg yesterday according to the family’s legal representative Rudolf Buloyi. Kiernan’s brother, father and some family members went to Durban to identify his body and place flowers on the spot where he lost his life. A night prayer was held yesterday for the two friends who died together, may their souls rest in peace.
