South Africa has been grappling with an alarming rise in crime for many years now, and the latest tragedy to hit the country is the murder of popular rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes. The 35-year-old was shot dead outside Wish restaurant on Florida road in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal on Friday night, and the footage of the crime has since been leaked on social media.
The video shows AKA hugging an individual outside the restaurant while surrounded by several men. It then shows a man charging at the group and shooting the rapper at close range before fleeing the scene.
The graphic footage shows AKA falling to the ground after being shot, with blood flowing from the wound. Reports suggest that he was shot 6 times outside the restaurant. The Lemonade hitmaker was declared dead on the scene, alongside Thapelo Motsoane.
The leak of the CCTV footage has sparked outrage on social media, with many people calling for an end to the country’s growing crime problem. South Africa has one of the highest crime rates in the world, with violent crimes such as murder, assault, and robbery being particularly prevalent.
