It’s not clear exactly when Khaya Mthethwa and Ntando Kunene met or when they started dating but the couple announced that they were getting married a few months after they went public with their relationship.

The pair got married in a traditional wedding held at Ntando Kunene’s home in Piet Retief, Mpumalanga in 2017.

In 2019, the former couple welcomed their first son named Oyinkosi Mthethwa who is also their only child.

Khaya Mthethwa’s divorce

After two years of marriage, Khaya and Ntando confirmed that they were headed for divorce towards the end of 2019 much to their fans’ surprise.

Ntando confirmed that they had split and that she had moved out of her matrimonial home after trying to make their marriage work and failing.

Despite divorcing due to irreconcilable differences, the former couple revealed that their divorce had been amicable and drama-free.

In a past interview with YFM, Khaya revealed that he had struggled to cope after his divorce and following the judgment he faced from society, he fell into depression and turned to alcohol to cope. He however also revealed that he had recovered from his depression and was working on becoming a better father for his son and a role model for the younger generation.

Before his relationship with Ntando Kunene, Khaya Mthethwa was in a serious relationship with renowned actress, Nomzamo Mbatha.

Their relationship was quite serious and some sources even claim that the two were engaged to be married.

Sadly, the two broke up in a dramatic twist after it emerged that Khaya Mthethwa was allegedly also dating Nomzamo Mbatha’s former bestie, Jessica Nkosi.

Besides breaking up with Khaya, Nomzamo and Jessica Nkosi’s friendship ended and the two actresses began a beef that lasted several years.
