Have you noticed how easy it is for government to find money when a celebrity has to be buried?

OPINION

This country never ceases to amaze me this country will amaze you even more when it is in recession when public services are collapsing because, as they government and all it’s appendages will make us believe, it’s because there is no money. Have you noticed how easy it is for Government to find money when a celebrity has to be buried and I’m not talking about just a a funeral but I’m talking about a lavish jamboree, I’m talking about a funeral which is not of a destitute celebrity, I’m talking about a funeral the celebrity’s family can easily afford.

We are told that the KZN Provincial Government is going to sponsor the funeral of the late music icon Mandla Maphumulo, otherwise also known as Mampintsha, may his soul rest in eternal peace. Now if this is not another definition of corruption a complete disregard and respect for this country’s citizens and their resources, then I don’t know what it is. We all know how people corruptly benefitted out of funerals of icons such as the late Nelson Mandela and subsequently his late wife’s.

The people of KZN who were devastated by the recent floods are still waiting for assistance, almost one year later but to make a decision to splash public resources for a celebrity who not known to be destitute, is the easiest, for our Government at the very least, Mampintsha was known to be a successful artistAnd when we raise these concerns, we are labeled as people who hate the ANC of course, I will not apologize to my hatred for corruption and if it is the ANC that is driving it, the ANC and it’s irrationally and subjectively thinking members, must just take it as collateral damage the only way to avoid that damage is for the ANC members to be honest, and to call corruption by it’s true name, and act decisively against it. Otherwise they will never stop hearing from me unfortunately I have a civic duty and responsibility to shout out when the state abuses it’s citizens and their resources
