The year that was has been huge on every level for Skeem Saam’s resident doctor Elizabeth Thobakgale (Amanda Manku).
Doctors don’t stand still and it’s a learning curve for Amanda, whose character is always on the move with a new project.
She renovated her house recently for her mother ex-Principal Jacobeth Thobakgale. Lizzy has been more focused on herself and her work than previously, but her love-life has also been moving well. It’s going to be an interesting 2023 for her – just watch this space!
But with the good comes the bad with a capital B. She was shocked to discover how badly – and often – she has been betrayed by some of the people she loves most. And what’s worse is that she worries about it.
Lizzy worries about everything to start with and that stresses her more. So now her stress doubles. It’s difficult to not feel sorry for her. She’s hardworking and finds herself dragged into these situations. She sees the best in people and they take advantage of that.
Amanda says that while she’s been playing this character for years, she’s loving Lizzy more than ever as the doctor character is growing and developing.
A lot happens to her that viewers can relate to, so I’m hoping that Lizzy’s storylines are going to help people with crises in their lives. I want fans to love her like I do.
