It was in the early hours of Sunday, 20 November 2022 when news about the passing away of Dj Sumbody started making waves on the social media and also his recording Lebel confirmed the news.

During the mid-week his family, colleagues and friends held a memorial service to honour him. Today on the 26th of November 2022, people are gathered to pay their last respect as they lay him to rest.

Casper Nyovest and Thebe performed Monate Mpolaye which is one of the most popular songs by Dj Sumbody. Casper and Thebe are featured in the song.

Chairperson of the African National Congress and Premier of Limpopo province Stan Mathabatha and co-founder and president of the Economic Freedom Fighters Julius Sello Malema are amongst the attendees.
