Gomora actor takes pride In his strong rural upbringing

Ayanda Daweti seems to be taking the acting world by storm. His role on Gomora as well as that on Scandal have won him so much acclaim.

But there is so much history behind his gradual rise to entertainment stardom.

Like most young people who grew up in the villages, Daweti also sang in school choirs in Tsolo, Eastern Cape.

It was after completing matric that he started acting in a community theatre group called Amathambo Endwe in Cape Town.

But Daweti had already fallen in love with acting and he decided to take that art path. He enrolled at Tshwane University of Technology and that is where it all began for him.

The lack of finances saw him dropping out and he went from hero to zero in no time. But he was not prepared to let go of his dreams.

Though he dropped out due to financial challenges, he continued with his studies at the Market Lab in Newtown taking Saturday classes. He further acquired more acting knowledge at Duma Ndlovu Acting Academy.
