An actor is excited about landing a role on popular etv drama Imbewu.
Tazz Nginda, aged 43, said this was an amazing journey that would take hi from point A to point B.
He is also known for his roles in SABC1’s Soul City, Zone 14 and Tshisa, and has appeared in international CocaCola and Carling Black Label adverts. Nginda said he received a call on August 19 to send a video audition for the role of Siya Mxenge in Imbewu: The Seed.
The next day, he was told to be on set two days later.
Having never watched the soapie, he scrambled to watch the last five episodes before arriving on set.
The cast includes the likes of Sarafina star Lelethu Khumalo, Sgudi Snaysi’s Thembi MtshaliJones, Isidingo’s Jack Devnarain and international actor Tony Kgoroge, among others.
Nginda said he was determined to represent Gqeberha and the province as best he could in his new role.
“The character challenged me to a certain point, he lives a life I have never lived and was born into money and power.
“His overall confidence was on another level. I love that he is not afraid and does not see race.
“He is an attorney with connections in justice and intelligence and knows everything is just a phone call away,” Nginda said of his character. I love that I can act a role that I cannot live in reality.
“Acting with Devnarain was a challenge because I love his work and his contribution towards acting in SA, but he has also been supportive,” he said.
Nginda lived in Zwide as a child but relocated with his mother and sister to Motherwell after their house burned down when he was eight years old.
Being raised by a single mother and faced with many social ills as a youth, he turned to sport as an escape.
He was fortunate that a neighbour, known as “Bra 1010”, played for a Motherwell soccer club.
