Actress Thuso Nokwanda Mbedu was born in South Africa on July 8, 1991. Her performance in the drama series Is’Thunzi earned her a nomination for an International Emmy. The American television program The Underground Railroad gave Mbedu her debut leading role. However, The Woman King, which was filmed in South Africa, marks her big-screen debut.
Returning home to film The Woman King was fantastic for her, she claims, because she had no idea it would be shot in South Africa or even Africa when she went in for the role’s audition.
