The police in Standerton is looking into a case where a 12-year-old boy and his 33-year-old aunt mysteriously died after falling inside a maize silo on Friday, July 1, 2022, at about 18:00.

The youngster fell inside the silo containing maize at a farm near Standerton on that terrible day, according to the story. After that, his aunt Jackie Rautenbach attempted to rescue him but ended up falling inside as well.

A few meters away, the woman’s husband is alleged to have heard loud cries for help and hastened to the scene, but it was too late to save their lives. Unfortunately, the two had already been declared dead when the paramedics arrived.

The police are looking into this horrific incident’s circumstances as well as an inquest case. At this time, no wrongdoing is believed.

Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, has expressed his sadness over the deaths of the two family members.
