Kwaito musician General, who is best known for his band Mandoza, Chiskop, was seen in hospital this morning.
He was diagnosed with stomach cancer and had undergone surgery to cut through him intestines. The General, whose real name is Siphiwe Sibisi, was reportedly hospitalized in Johannesburg. A source familiar with the matter states that the artist is in a critical condition and does not have the capacity to receive quality assistance.
“I spoke to him and I felt like he was out of breath, it was clear he was sick. Mapaputsi’s friend woke him up because he was going to see him at the hospital, ” said an unnamed source.
The source went on to say that the General had undergone abdominal surgery and that his intestines had been cut and that his condition had worsened.
Mapaputsi, who was contacted by the General’s case, admitted that he had been admitted to hospital due to illness and said that he regularly went to check on him.
“At the moment I can’t say how he is because I have also been going there for days because of the flu that has laid me down. I will look after him if I get better soon, ” said Mapaputsi.
The sick General is already left alone because he had them in Chiskop who are now dead, namely Mandoza and Sizwe who became known as Lollipop. Mandoza died in September 2016 of a terminal cancer. The group became known for their hit song, They Did Not Know , The Children , and Others.
Cancer has hit the country hardest for celebrities including Hugh Masekela, Ray Phiri, Johnny Clegg, Koyo Bala, Xolani Gwala, Desmond Tutu who has just died in his old age and some other people living with the disease.
