Remember Reneilwe from the eTV soapie Rhythm City? Where on Earth did she disappear to?
If we remember well, Amo Chidi joined the soapie in 2012. She played a high-school pupil who was the niece of Bra Kop. Adjusting to her new school came with many disputes and not knowing how to fit in. Luckily for her, she met a friend called Mampho, and they grew to be successful career women together.

Break into the media industry

With the support of her parents, she tried breaking into the media industry a few times from a very tender age. When she was ten years old, she was one of the top 10 finalists in a SABC 2 singing competition. Unfortunately, she lost, but she didn’t give up. When she was a teenager, she attended dance classes where she did ballet and many more types of dance. She also won the SADTA Championship once for her hip hop dancing.

Left Rhythm City before the show was discontinued.

After staying with the soapie for over five years, she left. When she left the soapie, she didn’t die in the storyline. In the end, Reneilwe had a singing career, and she went by the name of Electra. She lost a child and grew a severe obsession with being a mother. Unfortunately, she ended up trying to steal a child. Her then-fiance Muzi took her to a psychiatric hospital.

Amo Chidi is now a mother and a married woman. She is also hard at work trying to create music. One of her other projects is an upcoming food blog. As a person who loves the kitchen, she opened a blog called Plated By Mrs N. Recently, the actress ventured into being a vegetarian. She expresses how hard it is and how beneficial it is. Amo also posts a lot of images of herself enjoying family life.

Previous attempts at the music industry

As mentioned, she is currently trying to grow her singing career. When Amo acted on the eTV soapie, she performed as a singer at many events. Music producer Nutty Nys also featured her on a house song called Love For You. Amo has tried harnessing her voice to be a big star; perhaps her musical career can elevate now.

She plays the role of Mam Sonto Molefe, the matriarch of the Molefe family. MaSonto is a master of dark arts, an expert car hijacker who terrorised Gomora. She owned a tavern used to clean dirty money from criminal proceeds. MaSonto lived with her daughter Pretty, son in law Sbonga and her grandchild Tshiamo until Thathi, her eldest daughter, joined along with her children. Over the Gomora storyline, MaSonto lived with guilty conscience of being responsible for Mbongeni Ndaba’s death, who was involved in a botched car high jacking ordeal. She later confessed to being the figure behind Mbongeni’s demise to his mother, MaChonco, who had a bad relationship with MaSonto.

Connie Chiume remains one of Gomora’s prominent lead cast members following the exit of Zolisa Xaluva and Ama Qamata over a salary dispute. She sets to drive the Gomora Season 3 storyline after she accused her daughter of conniving to murder Phumlani Ndaba, her then son in law.

Connie Chiume sets her eyes on Amapiano
After leaving life behind cameras, she sets her sights on marrying the mic and possibly dropping a full amapiano album. She reveals her plans to merge into music on the upcoming Netflix show NEVER LATE | AFRICAN TIME, an African themed podcast hosted by Zweli Mbele.

“I take my inspiration from the younger generation; I have been working with them recently; if tomorrow you see me releasing Amapiano music, don’t be surprised, my amapiano is coming,” Connie Chiume.

Leeto From Skeem Saam “Eric Macheru” is a business mogul in real life

Eric Macheru, the former soccer player who plays Leeto Maputla, is a business mogul in real life. On Skeem Saam, he plays an attorney with a troublesome past. Leeto used to be a wild young man in his early 20s. He used to DJ abroad and got himself and his family in trouble with international drug lords. After meeting his now ex-wife Mokgadi, he focused on his legal career. Right now, Leeto is one of the most prominent lawyers in Turfloop.

His real-life business empire

The actor owns a liquor brand called The Blaq Gin in real life. What is beautiful about his gin brand is that it is manufactured in Eric’s distillery. What prompted his brand was the desire to help promote and celebrate black excellence. Black is spelt as ‘blaq’ for that theme of youthfulness. One bottle of The Blaq Gin retails for R265, totalling VAT. He kept promoting his brand and suggested something to level his company to the top.

Promotions of The Blaq Gin

So far, Eric has been pushing for the gin to be sold at various events. On the club scene, his drink has also made a few appearances. To elevate the marketing, he put promoters and mixologists in liquor stores to give people samples. Most of the time, people don’t drink things they’ve never tasted before. By giving out examples, he is perpetuating word of mouth advertising.

Eric also made a huge money move by getting the brand at various Tops at Spar retail outlets. Availing of the drink in liquor stores eased his distribution.

Mufasa owns the tequila brand Billiato which is gaining momentum in Mzansi. Kelly Khumalo holds the Controversy Gin. Kelly’s choice of name was fueled by her association with various scandals in the media. Bonang Matheba owns a champagne brand called House of BNG, and she has been holding down the brand for a few years now.

Eric’s Lifestyle

Eric is a relatively modest celebrity. He prefers spending quality time with his family and close friends. When he’s not on the screen, he promotes his gin on the streets. However, he does live in an upmarket estate somewhere in Jo’burg, and he drives a unique Audi vehicle.
