It has been almost five years ever since the international recognized house music genre ‘amapiano’ took over the South African music mainstream. The sound has successfully produced famous artists like Uncle Waffles, Kamo Mpela, Focalistic, Musa Keys, DJ Maphorisa, Kabza the small and Shasha.

These musicians have reached the highest level of their careers through the ama-piano. In 2019, the multi-talented proud Zimbabwean singer ‘Sha Sha’ took home a BET Award for Best International Act for her debut EP which had ‘amapiano’ songs.
