It is very important for every drama series or telenovela to impress its viewers on the first episode. Viewers should be hooked by the first scene in order for them to be interesting to continue watching. Imagine the first episode of the new drama being so boring in such a way that viewers and up getting confused on what the storyline is about. Seems like Umbuso is one of those stories.

Umbuso is the Mzansi Magic’s mini drama series produced by MECA: Marketing and Entertainment Communications Agency, in association with War Child Enterprise. This mini-series is about a woman who had been keeping a secret from her family, after one of her children discovered the secret, he then killed the mother. Umbuso is also about two comrades, who were prison buddies, determined to secure a post-struggle legacy for themselves and their families.

Umbuso has a strong theme, the only thing they messed up it is the setting, on the first scene, they should have atleast played the part where the mother was killed by her son. That was definitely going to attract viewers. Viewers of this show started complaining on the first episode, and I actually don’t blame them because it was so dry and confusing, everything was just all over the place until the son killed his mother.
