Mnakwethu Happily Ever After has reached the end these past few weeks and the couples attempting polygamy have been stretched to their limit. Musa Mseleku has been hosting the reunion and no one is holding back from being honest.

Thembelani Mchunu is one of the men attempting to add a second wife and his journey has been tenuous.

He is also the same man who brings his girlfriend to the house he shares with his wife and child. This week even the men in the crowd couldn’t agree with him on his choice of second wife. MaKhumalo was exposed of still entertaining phone calls from an ex-boyfriend.

The funniest part of this for me was the man in question doubling down on still wanting to marry her. You would think with an ego like his, he would expect loyalty and nothing else. Instead he was vehemently defending her and claiming his mother would keep an eye on her.

 

 

 

Social Media Response

There was no sympathy for MaKhumalo from the online space.

One user wrote, “Imagine fighting to get married to a man staying with his wife so that you can go and stay with his mother who will be watching you #MnakwethuHEA”

While another user observed, “Makhumalo is busy with her side boyfriend while my foolish brother is ADAMANT on marrying her#MnakwethuHEA”

A final irritated user wrote, “Thembelani is stupid, he wants to marry maKhumalo just to spite maMthombeni #MnakwethuHEA”

Personal Thoughts

I find it hard to feign surprise where this is concerned. The show has existed purely on the disrespect of the first wives. The manner in which the women are treated is unfair. MaMthombeni is a woman who is well educated and smart. I hope she won’t stick around with a man choosing an unfaithful woman to come into their marriage. She deserves much better than that.
