Teenage Pregnancy is an edutainment show on Moja Lvoe that seeks to show the reality of teenagers falling pregnant. We get to watch the lives of young girls and see how having children affects them. Zanele has been a fan favourite since the beginning.

This week she was trying to help her mother make better choices.

Zanele got pregnant after a one night stand with her long time male best friend. His family accused her of lying and even when as far as to imply that she only wanted it to be their son because she is poor. It was insulting but she was vindicated by the DNA test results.

 

 

This week she had a deep conversation with her mother and it got a little too real for everyone watching. The talk was about her mother bringing over men to the house and her fearing her safety, but moreover, her worry about the alcoholism. Her sister suggested therapy for the family but especially for their mother to attend Alcoholics Anonymous.

Personal Thoughts

It broke my heart to watch this family be candid with one another. To realise that the source of all their pain is poverty was worse. Poverty strips people of their dignity and their sense of agency. It allows for the bad to permeate until it become uncontrollable. My heart goes out to all those struggling with battles they never share with others. It hurts to see people hurting.
