The Real Housewives of Durban franchise introduced Thobile “MaKhumalo” Mseleku as one of three new ladies for the season. She is seemingly the one people feel like is disappearing into the background. She’s usually a well spoken woman.

However, her scenes on the show so far have her framed as reserved and afraid.

 

 

 
Thobile first came onto our screen when Uthando Nes’thembu came about, as the third wife of Musa Mseleku. She became a fan favourite because ofnher sweet and patient nature when faced with the challenges of a polygamist marriage. It gave her a hosting job on Vuma FM and a show with her sister wives on SABC 1 called Igumbi Lamakhosikazi.

Her appeared on RHOD however has been very shaky. It seems as though she is struggling to find her feet. But now viewers believe this isn’t the case. A video surfaces from the most recent episode, a behind the scenes where she is singing and dancing with the children during LaConco’s event.

Social Media Reaction

Upon seeing this video, people had many questions about what else was being cut off from the show.

One user wrote, “Awu the producers are sabotaging her. Why didn’t they show this part #RHODurban”

While another user wrote, “Makes you wonder how many more moments are not aired, where she actually comes out of her shell.”

A funny user believed it was another castmates doing, writing, “LaC is paying the producers ngeke(no way)”

Personal Thoughts

I think its obvious that “reality television” is oftentimes scripted despite people pretending otherwise. I just don’t understand why Thobile is being framed as someone who can’t stand up for herself. She is more than capable of all that and more. Given the half the chance I believe she could be a stand out castmate. Perhaps as the season progresses we will get to see the fun side.
