Durban Gen: “Mseleku and MaKhumalo have captured our screens” SAns react to their casting

One thing about life? When it rains, it pours. Whether the rain is good growing rain or a chaotic storm is out of the question.

Ever since being introduced to our screens as cast of Uthando Nesthembu, the Mselekus have made sure to capture our screens and be visible on every second channel.

When Mseleku introduced his wives and the dynamics around polygamy, I never thought that we’d soon be riding with him on our screens to a point where it feels like he owns the TV industry.

It has recently been announced that Thobile and Musa Mseleku will be joining eTV telenovela Durban Gen, in April for a few minor roles.

As much as this might feel like a great moment of triumph for them, it feels like an insult to viewers.

We have so many media graduates dying for an opportunity, while rich people get thrown with roles on a random day.

I’m not suggesting that they don’t deserve it, or that they didn’t work for it… Okay no, that’s exactly what I’m saying. There’s nothing extravagant about their “talent”. The only thing I’d mention is that they are ambitious because wow, they keep popping up everywhere.

We are already seeing much of the two, it’s even starting to feel like Musa is in a monogamous relationship with Thobile. There was absolutely no reason for Durban Gen to bypass all those struggling actors and actresses in need of a chance, just to cast a famous couple.

But one thing that this announcement has done, is get more people talk about Durban Gen. We might be complaining but we know very well we’ll tune in when they two are casted; they are influential after all.
