Busisiwe Xaba, who portrayed Palesa on Generations The Legacy, has changed her life to follow God and is now a preacher in real life. On Generations The Legacy, Candice Modiselle plays the part of Palesa Matema, Lerato’s older sister.
The Matema sisters had been abandoned by their mother and were struggling to make ends meet; Lerato remained with the Diale family, while Palesa travelled from job to job to make ends meet. Due to desperation, Palesa was forced into prostitution, where she met some of the most prominent persons in the country, including Minister Walter Nkaba and Kumkani Phakade.
She had a romance with Detective Dali Malinga, with whom she was almost married. When Palesa’s mother died in the Generations The Legacy story, she suffered through the worst, and she committed insurance fraud. She was arrested and sentenced to prison, where she rose through the ranks to become a brutal gang leader who assisted Nontle – Buntu Petse – in exposing prison conditions.
Busi has performed on a variety of stages and is passionate in portraying deep-seated issues that affect the human psyche. She was a supporting cast member on Diamond City during her brief tenure on television. Her portrayal as Palesa on Generations The Legacy opened doors and provided her with much-needed exposure.
Since her departure from Generations The Legacy, Busisiwe has been pursuing her dreams of photography and filmmaking. AnávoArts, a media company specializing in videography, photographic editing, and fashion creation, was formed by her.
She was called to pastoral ministry and now works at Yahwe Kingdom Ministries as a Youth Pastor, which she describes as a divine directive.
