Few hours ago, in the early hours of today. Rapper, television personality and songwriter Nadia Nakai Kandava posted a video of herself with AKA. She continued to share their videos on her instagram stories.
South African Rapper AKA was the first person to post these videos. More than anything, many a happy for AKA for opening up to love again. Few a judging him for moving on too early according to them.
Last year in April, AKA’s fiancee Anele Tembe died after jumping from 10th floor at the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape town.
Anele’s family and many people blamed AKA for her death because AKA was on drugs at the time and they were both going for a marriage cancelling since they had just started their marriage journey.
“I told myself it would be best if I remove myself from the situation, and I gathered my belongings and booked myself into another room, hoping things would calm down. It got worse, she took off her ring and threw it at me. I came back to the room because I had taken her phone. Things took a turn for the worse where Anele kind of threatened to kill herself, jump off the balcony… she didn’t say it in those words though.” AKA explained in his first interview after Anele’s death.
“She wasn’t there and I looked out the room. I looked out the balcony and that’s where she was,” AKA Forbes added.
When AKA was asked whether he was abusive or not towards Anele he replied, “No, I would never abuse Anele, I treated her like gold, she was my everything.”. This was after Anele’s friends leaked a video of AKA breaking the door to get to Anele.
It’s been 8 months since the death of AKA’s fiancee. He went off social media for almost 2 months. Stopped going to gigs and partying. He told his fans he had gone back to church and therapy.
He mourned his fiancee publicly, but moving on doesn’t mean one has been replaced or is loved less. It simply shows that the one grieving has finally accepted life for what it is and is looking forward to learning to open up to love again.
AKA’s fans together with Nadia’s are happy for the two.
