Shauwn Mkhize was born on 6 April 1975 in the village of Umbumbulu in KwaZulu-Natal to parents Florence Grace Mkhize (mother) and Amos Mswane (father).

Florence Mkhize’s mother was an anti-apartheid activist and politician who later became an ANC councillor in the eThekwini municipality. Shawn is a divorced woman she was married with Sbu Mpisane for 20 years until 2019.

Both they have a son who’s also popular in Mzansi.
