Makgotso has been trending for all the right reasons lately, namely for clinching a role in the highly anticipated film, A Woman King alongside her friend Thuso Mbedu. But now she’s also acquired a role in “The Royal Surprise”, a film set to release later in the year.
She will be starring alongside Thapelo Mokoena and Jennifer Freeman.

Makgotso was relentlessly trending on Twitter two weeks ago despite that she doesnt frequently use the app. The reason? People had made assumptions that Thuso was lowering ladders for her. She didn’t have to worry however because Thuso set the record straight where that was concerned and this news is sending that over the top.

The Royal Surprise is a romcom set in Johannesburg, South Africa with Jennifer Freeman playing the lead role. You’ll know her from the show, “My Wife and Kids” if you grew up in South Africa. As for Thapelo, his discography is extensive but you might recognize him from Generations, Mthunzini dot com or Kota Life Crisis.

About the movie itself which is being directed by Beautie Masvaure Alt seems like it wi be right up my street as a romantic film lover. The description reads as follows:

“Riley Stevenson accepts an invitation to visit Mandla, her boyfriend’s, family in South Africa. When she arrives, she is shocked to learn that Mandla is not only extremely wealthy, but also the prince of Chacula, a village near Johannesburg! The news puts Riley’s trust in Mandla in jeopardy, and now is up to him to win her love back. Riley must decide if she will give Mandla a second chance while also winning the approval of his royal family.”

Personal Thoughts
I think that the film industry is starting to open up altogether and South Africans are featuring more prominently in them. I remember growing up that our people were usually the background or supporting characters but that it rapidly changing and I can’t help but feel a sense of pride at that. I also hope on a local level we don’t underestimate out actors because they are gold.

Makgotso is making waves and I’m very proud of her how far she’s come, good for her!

Magongwe and Phetla are in the deep trouble because currently their secret is about to come out, remember Alfios does not know nothing about business and everybody was asking questions about how he got a tender at university, Melita tried to expose him, but she couldn’t survive because Alfred was threatening her to Sue her, so Melata eventually try to move on because John Maputla offered her a job.

Since the telenovela House of Zwide aired on TV the main question was when will the truth about Zobuhle comes out.However the story line didn’t give the results of the question and now things seem to be changing and maybe the truth might come out or not nobody knows at this point.The character of Nkosi Zwide has been portrayed as someone who have everything figured out and looking out for his father’s business like every son would do.

With what is happening with Nkosi it shows how most people do not open up about battles they are fighting with untill they collapse.It is evident that if Nkosi did not have a breakdown he would have told his family about his nightmares.Nkosi is caught between his father and mother,who is making sure that Nkosi is making a mistake by opening the past as she is covering up for her skeletons.His father on the side wants Nkosi to recall everything that has happened as it might lead him to his long lost daughter.

Sne is one character known for her bubbly personality and ambition as far as her love life is concerned. She has always made it clear that, she does not want to be in a relationship with anyone who is below her league. Nurse Mtshali has very high standards in terms of the man that she wants to have as her husband. It has always been her dream to be “Mrs Doctor Somebody”. That dream seemed far fetched until she got intimate with Dr Lindelani Zulu and became pregnant with his baby. Despite her short lived excitement ended by Lindelani’s unwillingness to be part of the pregnancy and ultimately the baby’s life, there seems to be hope for Sne.

One, Dr Sphe Dhlomo finds himself not wanting anything to do with any other nurse, not even Matron Nkabinde – except Sne Mtshali. According to him, Sne is strong, beautiful and focused & that’s what seems to have him hooked on the gorgeous nurse. Can Sne trust Dr Dhlomo to be the committed man of her dreams? This question arises because, after her “fallout” with Dr Zulu, Sne wanted nothing to do with men. With Sphe being conceited and arrogant according to Sne, could it be that he is the one that she has been looking for?

Perhaps her relationships with the likes of L’vovo and Macgyver failed because they were not really what she wanted. What is shocking is, Sne wasn’t interested in the grand gesture that the Dr tried to pull off. The cologne that costs over R6000 and the invitation to dinner failed to get her interested. This is shocking because, it is known that Sne loves men with expensive taste.

Could this be a sign that, the relationship she might have with Dr Sphe will yield a more positive result unlike the previous ones? Could the foundation of this seemingly genuine relationship be the thing that causes it to stand and pass the test of time? The ten minutes that turned into a wonderful time that Sne and Sphe spent together was nothing short of maturity and beauty. Say anything comes out of them spending time together, do you think Sne will be honest about her pregnancy or this will be an opportunity for her to pin it on the unsuspecting doctor?

At the end of the day, all of us deserve to be happy, to love and to be loved. But before anything, let’s start by loving ourselves.
