It has just been barely a week since Ukhozi crossed over to the new year with Isibani, a song of DJ Hlo and a lot has been said.
The 24 years old Durban DJ has received lot of backslash on social media as some people claimed that there was corruption in her song winning the highly contested position.
Some even go as far as saying that she slept someone inside the SABC or Ukhozi FM.
The Isibani hitmaker held a press conference on Thursday, the 6th of January and stated that she would be taking legal actions against anyone spreading false information about her.
Although many people were confused by her song being the number one as they stated it was for the first time they hear of it but she managed to get over 240 000+ votes, beating her rival, Jumbo, a gospel singer who had just around 100 000 votes.
Many people did not expect her as they were amazed that the fact an unknown artist snatched the award from popular musicians like Lanza de Small who had multiple nominees and Zakes Bantwini.
Other people claimed that DJ Hlo’s win is a result of ANC ally or her relationship with the Zumas after a photo of her posing with the ANC Carl Niehay surfaced online.
DJ Hlo called a media briefing on Wednesday to set the record clear.
She clapped back at the haters and stated that Isibani is not just a song that came out of the blue. It was released a long time ago and she encouraged people to vote for it and download it. After this, Ukhozi FM opened its entries for the song of the year and she encouraged people to nominate it and vote for it.
