Mzansi drags Natasha Thahane once again as Makgotso lands a role alongside Thuso Mbedu in USA

Still, the situation hasn’t quite fizzled down even though she is currently mourning her grandfather Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Twitter always finds a way to bring her name into the fray whenever acting news comes about. They aren’t quick to forget in these Twitter streets.

Now according to Musa Khawula and various online resource, Makgotso Monyemorathoe has been cast in The Woman King. She joins the cast as one of the wives of the king played by John Boyega. This by itself is such wonderful news. She is reunited with Thuso Mbedu as they were co-stars on Is’thuzi and she gets to Benin the presence of acting royalty, Viola Davis.

However, in true Twitter fashion, it turned into a “dissing Natasha party” as people tossed in memes and comparisons about her.

One user wrote, “Natasha failed to do this with our 1M”

While another chimed to ask, “Natasha studied in America, why isn’t she being casted alongside them too?💀”

While another observed, “[…] Natasha with R1m education they still can’t land a young supporting role internationally.”

Personal Thoughts
I realise that this country always has to have some kind conflict going on. We just live in a country where peace is rarely optional. But I can’t completely condemn the Tweeps for their words. Natasha benefitted unfairly from a system that has favourites. Perhaps this is one of the few times where the backlash is proportional to the actions.

Either way, I am really happy for Makgotso. She is a star and I’ll be glad to see her on the big screen!
