Roland Mqwebu is famous for playing the role of James Mkhize in the SABC Sitcom, Emzini Wezinsizwa. He was born on January 16, 1941, on the 16th of January 1941.He was based in Durban, Kwazulu Natal before passing away on the 28th of August 2015.
Mqwebu’s character, Mkhize, was adored by many viewers of the show. They loved the confidence he had in using the English words, even though he was not getting them right. Mkhize worked as a security guard.
Asked what characters people used to love on a show, there is a woman who came out and revealed herself as Roland’s grand daughter on Twitter. The woman’s name is Sphe Mokoena, and she is also based in Durban.
She described her late grandfather as someone who portrayed the role of who he really was in real life. Sphe says Mqwebu used to make them laugh at home, and that is the thing she misses most about him.
Asked if the voice was really his or if it was modified, Sphe said it was his original voice and he left it with someone in the family who is called Ntuthuko. She also shared Ntuthuko’s voice, and he looked like the late Roland.
The lady went on and described her late grandfather as someone who loved meat. She says he would carry a chilli source wherever he went, just in case he came across meat.
She says he was a strict person, but he made sure that the home was always warm due to his jokes and the kind of respect he had for everyone. Spheh says nothing will ever replace Roland and how he made them feel when he was around.
