Organisers Slam TNS For Ditching An Event

TNS is in hot water with the organisers of the Newcastle Amcor Dam Music Festival for allegedly ditching them after receiving payment.

His performance was scheduled for December 27 and the producer and performer did not show up for his performance, after receiving his payment of R15 000.

One of the organisers Sbu Mkhulise spoke to Isolezwe and he said that engagements with TNS failed because the musician was rude to them.

“He did not explain to us why he failed to pitch for his performance. We even urged him to at least refund us the money we paid to him. Instead, he spoke out of turn and insulted us.”

He further added that he does not know what caused him (TNS) to speak like that as it showed that he had a problem with them.

The publication tried to get a hold of TNS and his management for commenting, however the iBbhari hitmaker did not wish to talk about that.

He was not prepared to talk about anything other than his music. He instead asked them to speak to his manager Ayanda Mthembu.

Ayanda acknowledged that TNS did receive the money however the company did not provide proof that the money came from them. After weeks of requesting for proof they sent it in January.

TNS and his manager claim that the received payment from various companies and the R15 000 could have been paid by anybody.

“We were not prepared to attend an event that we were not certain if they paid or not,” explained Ayanda.

TNS recently came out accusing people of trying to kill him for his music. The musician since apologised for his rant on Instagram and he wishes to put everything behind him.

Season Two Of Queen Sono Is Coming

who was killed years before in tangled affairs of a messy political event. Her mother, Safiya Sono was a well respected political activist who is still idolized by the South African society even after her death. This happens to the extent that a special remembrance takes place annually to celebrate the selfless life that she lived. Such shoes as her mother’s is hard to fill for someone who had to live through the tragedy as a kid.Queen Sono publicity poster

As I said, this season was more of seed planting than delivery of twists or wrapping up of storylines. Being a very short season with 6 episodes helped it to tell its story well and not overdo the narrative it has to tell despite having Netflix behind them. I would not fault any of the acting performances, as it comprised of good, bad and mediocre, but no performance of note knocked out of the park. It might just be an issue of casting, where it feels like some actors would be better suited for other roles. I just hope favouritism or nepotism is not coming into play here. It is the truth- we are in Africa, baby.Queen Sono tries to fight her a dark past which holds her down from time to time with a fine sense of humour and attitude of indifference. Unfortunately, this would not solve her problems every time and only adds it up for a bigger trauma to deal with later on. In order to battle this dark past of hers, she needs to come to terms with what really happened to her mother by investigating the true nature of her death. Furthermore, the series deals with themes such as neo-colonialism, corruption, terrorism and self identity, which are all interwoven into Queen Sono’s larger colourful garment.

However, one major problem I have with the series is really basic and could have been avoidable. I found it half-baked that she could not come up with a better profession as a cover for her true lifestyle of espionage. It is ridiculous that the organisation she works for can not provide a better cover that would conceal her true day job. She is left with telling people in her life, like her grandmother and best friend who bug her about how she makes a living that she is an art seller. Not a single person believes that crap, but they seem to just let it go, just for the sake of we are going to move on to something else. If she is happy, then we are happy.

African traditional dresses, Xhosa attire

Xhosa traditional attire is another stripe of glory in Africa in addition to the world’s fashion industry. Like existing popular African prints; Kente, Ankara and kitenge, Xhosa traditional attire has a special history dating back to pre-colonial times and a unique origin from the Xhosa people of South-Africa. The attire is symbolic in nature, taking different shapes and forms depending on the occasion. Africans, being social people, hold ceremonies and symbols with high regards. However, with the recent changes in social psychology, symbolism has been replaced with purposeful fashion statements and creative wear in the fashion space, leaving ceremonies as the only thing of social significance that are still held in high esteem.
